Citizen Public Safety Patrol
The FM CPSP are unarmed, trained volunteers who donate their time and work within the Public Safety Organization in the Town of Flower Mound. They assist and support law enforcement in the reduction of crime and improve overall "quality of life" by increasing the effectiveness of the crime prevention efforts.
CPSP volunteers are not Police Officers. They do not carry weapons and have no arrest powers.
What do CPSP volunteers do?
- Participate in mobile and foot patrols
- Assisting FMPD as requested with stranded motorists
- Assisting FMPD as requested with traffic control
- Assisting FMPD by touring businesses and public areas
What are some qualifications for becoming a CPSP Volunteer?
- Be at least twenty-one years of age
- Be a graduate of the Flower Mound Citizen's Police Academy
- Be a member in good standing with the Alumni Association (FMCPAAA)
- Pass a criminal background check
- Have the ability and desire to volunteer twelve (12) to sixteen (16) hours per calendar month, including weekends
- Complete an 8 hour "Volunteer's Basic Training Course"
- Complete Ride-Alongs with FMPD personnel and CPSP volunteers

What can I do to encourage safety and prevent crime in Flower Mound?
- Always lock your car and remove your personal possessions or secure them from view by locking in the trunk of your vehicle
- Close your garage door
- If you see a crime, be a good witness -- note the vehicle license plate and the make and model of any vehicles involved and contact the Flower Mound Police Department immediately
- Get to know your neighbors -- watch out for each other and report suspicious activity in your neighborhood to the FM Police
